Class 8: Ancient American Civilizations

Now that you've completed your preliminary research, you're ready to move on to more specific sources, get more details, and build your argument.

This is where secondary sources comes in. Remember, the goal isn't to read an entire book. Instead, you'll be reading specific pages or sections within a book that relate to your topic. Use the index and table of contents to help guide you to those pages.

reserve books

There are 30 books on the Ancient Americas reserve cart. They are all marked with ORANGE dots on the spine.

Rules of Reserves

1. Reserve books are available on a first-come, first-serve basis

2. You can check out ONE book from the reserve cart at a time for ONE night. You must return the book to the library before school starts the next day.

3. You must check the book out from a librarian BEFORE leaving the library with it.

4. To return reserve books, leave them on the Help Desk next to the "Return Reserve Books Here!" sign. Do not take any returned books the Help Desk without checking them out from a librarian.

5. If you don't want to take a book home with you, you can scan specific pages to print out or email to yourself using the book scanner. Ask a librarian to show you how to use the book scanner.
