Welcome to the research guide for the World Health Policy Paper!
Social science research may present different challenges than the research process you are used to in your previous classes. Economists, politicians, and NGOs produce a lot of information, and sorting through it to find useful information can be difficult. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
• I chose my health issue. Now what?
Get specific regarding place, factors and context. Choose a country or area of the world to focus on (i.e., West Africa), two to three factors or lenses through which you want to examine your health issue (i.e. Water Sanitation and Urbanization), and start building your knowledge of the history of all those areas to give yourself context.
• Read carefully.
As you read news articles, reports, blogs, and so on, look for words that will point you in the right direction for other research (i.e. "A recent World Bank research report states..." Make a note to go and find that World Bank research report)
