Class 12: Oceanic Art

Welcome to the Research Guide for Oceanic Art!

Linked below are the resources that will help you move through the research process and answer the question posed in the prompt: How are contemporary Oceanic artists inspired by the artwork of their region’s past?

You can search for art in JSTOR's image collection (previously known as ArtSTOR), which brings together collections from museums and sites all over the world.

TIP: After doing a search, scroll down on the results page until you see the "Geography" filter on the left-hand side. Select "Australia and Oceania" and the results will automatically filter to only include objects created in that region. You can also filter for specific object types like "Paintings" or "Sculptures" by selecting from the "Classification" filter.
